What is MAC

MAC or SMAC (State Maximum Allowable Cost) Definition:
An Illinois State Medicaid payment to pharmacies (SMAC) per generic medication (published by the state), providing the maximum price the state will pay for a particular medication, irrespective of its package size or manufacturer. Ensuring that the State Medicaid Department pays a prudent cost for medications.
